Iam not. I just think it maybe is.
Everybody is saying about some 150-200 kg maximum load into it.
I believe it's more then that.

If it is not, is fine.

there are 2 weights stamped on the caravan 1 the MIRO (mass in running order) which is how the van leaves the factory 2 the MPTLM which is the maximum that the caravan can be loaded to, the difference between the two is the max payload which includes gas bottles, battery etc.
I know post 2011 vans miro sometime include gas bottles & battery but the difference between miro & mtplm is a lot lower & still the the max payload

Ok.
So call me stupid,
On the webside it says my van has 1400 something, on the plate, I looked earlier it says 1245kg empty, and the max weight inc load is stated 1680 kg.
It's a 1994 swift.
So in this case I defently do no overload the van, even thought I would.

How comes most people have only 150 tp 200 kg loading capacity to there vans?
At least that's what I seen so far.
I mean a 7,5kg gasbottle is full 13-15 kg heavy depend on manufacturer. Plus a second one, and all the rest.
My missus went out today and start trying to figure out what we actually have in the van.
With a bloody kitchen scale!
Next she used the suitcase scale.
I couldn't believe it.
I had to put everything back.
She said she came on 389kg incl notebook, laptop, DVD case, ipad and stuff which is usualy not in the van unless we going away.
Plus clothe and the fridge will be full.
So I think the laden stuff will be around 20-30 kg over weight.
Good deal actually, I think.

An older caravan has unladen weight as completely empty caravan. Caravans made more recently have empty weight as MIRO, mass in running order, this is empty caravan+gas bottle+battery on the most recent caravans.

Confused? Probably even more so now. I suggest your wife made a mathematical error, theres no way your normal compliment of gear could amount to 400kg, probably not even half that.

I guessed so but I don't argue this with her.btw not wife.
Been married twice, no thanks. And she don't want to .

I think what's in the van at the moment is around 250kg.
That's incl gas bottles.
If it's going on more there should always been some spare gramm left for the rest of the stuff.
Maybe one day I go over a weigh bridge .
I know a couple is just planning it into a journey.

And as I said before, I was fine when we been out, so, if I be a bit over the weight, so be it.

HGV driver risking his licence by being overloaded?

I presume you know the fines for being overloaded?

So what.
How many cars you think are overloaded?
Not only with what is in, with the weight of people.
20-30 kg make no difference and would not exceed the safety of .
Not everybody has a scale for a caravan at home.
Are you a police officer? Retired maybe? Or just someone who adores the law in the book to the dot?
If so, have fun, on you're own.

Interesting arguments from V70tom.

We'll see if people take his advice by counting the number of overturned caravans we see. I'd have a little more faith in his judgement and abilities if he didn't post his gallery images upside down

Thats what I have seen as well unless it was a double axle, that was up until yesterday when we bought our first Caravan.

Home-Car Eureka 43 1988 (I know it's old but it's solid)

Empty Weight = 735Kg
Max Loaded Weight = 1200Kg

That gives us 465Kg to play with

Sounds a bit light. 7 maybe a 9. 935kg which seems about right for the size, But specs are rather vague.

Nothing seems to translate properly.
