That's a good point Octavia 4x4, instead of worrying about getting stuck in a saloon why not fit all season tyres to the front or back drive axle these give max grip so should stop you getting stuck about £60 a corner far cheaper than a tank, and believe it or not they actually last longer than normal tyres

Well done Bob! Tiguan(massive 4x4?), Yeti & Octavia all built on the same VW group A5 platform so essentially same cars...just so ya know like.

Can't wait to get rid of my Tiguan and get back to a Skoda!

The most dissappointing car I have ever owned .... and the dealer (not far from you Jeff) is a joke.

I'll be back to a Yeti or a Scout soon.

Sorry to hear that Ian i love mine one of the best cars ive had.Must have been a friday car you had.

Nope. Stick to a Mitsu, they fit proper autos. Mine tows brilliantly with the auto gearbox. It also does a shift down on steep hills to provide engine braking. Only disappointment is that the auto is so good, I haven't had the need to use the paddle shifts yet.

Certainly all current VW group cars being discussed on this thread are & I think nowadays so are large 4x4s like Discos. Reason for change is fuel economy, old type torque converter boxes generally have poorer mpg than manual version of same car due to losses in the drive. DSG boxes with up to 9 speeds can give better mpg than manual version.

I've not used the 'kick down' on mine either.

Paddle shifts are not the same as kickdown. The ASX and Outlanders now have paddle shifts on the steering wheel as well as kick down, and of course the manual change up/down on the gear stick. Lost for choice.

RonPlatt: The Skoda Yeti with a slightly less powerful engine (less BHP and less torque) than my ASX but with 4wd and DSG box does 44.8mpg compared to 48.7mpg on my ASX. The Yeti is almost the same weight being just 40kg more.
