Yes we've got 4 daughters, aged 17, 14, 9 and 7!

The Adria I looked at had a double bunk and the dinette becoming a double bed, (plus the front double for us) hence me discarding it, but a wider triple bunk would change that :)

We have thought about the awning option to give them space and it's something that is a possibility but I'd also like to have the room for them in the van if they choose to be.

We do have a budget of around £10000, £11000 at a push as we're also looking to change the car too.

Thanks for all your help so far, I really appreciate it :)

That is the Altea 542 DK you have seen that has double rear bunk and rear convertible dinette, the one I mentioned (and have) is the Altea 542DT which has triple bunks plus a rear washroom and then a side dinette that converts to a single

£10k would get you looking probably at a 2011ish model from a dealer or 2012 maybe privately

Finding one in your local area may be the harder bit but I would definitely try

Ah I see, thanks, I'll have a look online at that now! I'm trying my best not to be impulsive which is very against my nature, so I'm determined to look through all options!

4 daughters, the older ones will need sockets for phone chargers and hair straighteners, hair dryers, and what ever else needs power, if you buy from a dealer most will be accommodating and fit them at a reasonable cost

This might be a naive question, but we thought of just using an extension lead with a 4 plug socket, is that not feasible? We would of course be careful with what was plugged in at any one time as we were with camping!

Yes you can do that provided you understand which appliances draw high current, ie kettle & those that draw only a small current, ie phone chargers.

That is fine but getting extra ones added in places where there are none is not a bad thing to have done

If the bunks fit the older children could the younger girls share the double? I used to share with my sister and we had great fun.

Our coachman 570/6 has two fixed bunks on one side then a dinette which converts to another pair of bunks on the other side. Several vans have this layout which would be ideal.

This one is very similar. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/111447678451
