Thank you,I will get these checked out, never entered my head to do so though, I just thought you just towed it and that was that, I can see the obvious now that you have pointed it out.

Yes, its still a mechanical device & needs servicing. Some get a service every year & with a new one you have to in order to maintain warranty, but I think once every 2yrs is enough once it is older.

Its generally advised to replace tyres every 5-6yrs regardless of wear as they can perish & crack after a few yrs.

Thank you for all the advice, I promise that I have taken it all on board and will act accordingly. In hindsight I should have come on here before purchasing this camper.
Never mind though what is done is done, I have a lot of checking and sorting now before we even take it off the drive.
Its a good job we haven't got a car to pull it yet.
Thank you everyone

Once you get a car preferably a Skoda Octavia diesel, 50 plus MPG, find a nice largish bit of ground and set it up so you know you have everything, so its easy to do when you go away, you could do this on the day the service engineer comes, so he has access to the cooker and fridge if it has one even the heater

I'm a worrier too, so I feel your pain! You'll not be the first person, nor the last, to take the plunge with tent/caravan/motorhome without doing all the homework. This site is fab, because there are loads of people with lots of knowledge. To be honest, you learn as you go with any sort of camping.

You've got all the info you need now and it'll just take a few trips to get the hang of everything. Most important things to do first are all the safety checks you've been advised to do.

Keep us posted!x

I had someone turn up to view a caravan who didnt even realise he needed a towbar.

He had a towing loop on the back and assumed it attached to that somehow. He didnt buy it.

Thank you Weegmack, and you are so right about this site, I joined quite a while ago but never really used it until we got this camper, its been a godsend, so many things that we didn't know about.

Also grampian91 that is so funny, we are wet behind the ears but not quite that bad ha ha.
