Hi we traveled to Callander in Scotland from Cadnam Hants and stopped off overnight at Tebay which is on the M6 and Moffat which is just off M6 not to far from Glasgow
We stayed at Callander and then took day trips to the Highlands even then some of the main roads are narrow .have a great time ,we are looking to go to Scotland this June.
I would avoid Loch Lomond. M74, M73, M80 then take the turn off for Callander.
Why not take an over night stop at Strathclyde park, you will manage fort william in well under 4 hours and will have time to look at all the lovely scenery along the way
Dorset to my house nr Blackpool takes me 5hrs solo without hold ups, I would think about Tebay services campsite, its very handy has lovely
mountanous scenery and leaves a nice drive for the next day. The north part of loch lomond is about the worst section for towing, a bit twisty and narrow in places, but lorries use it so dont worry!

I'll second that.....it the exact route I'll take when I head for CC at Bunree for Easter.

I would always use the Loch Lomond route, I find the route you recommend a much harder drive.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
Firstly, I'm no driving "wimp" sadly done Barcelona to Poole in one stretch ... but why rush, give yourself a couple of nights stopover ...its a lovely journey .

driving all that way without an overnight stop is sheer madness...560 miles ! Take it easy ,i assume you are going on holiday ,why give yourself all the stress ? i agree with janus. the last thing you want to be doing is driving the last section on narrow roads when you are tired
Please appreciate that driving is not stressful for everyone.
