Fair enough, not in the same category in terms of towing capacity I'd been thinking about the reviews I'd read where they were in the same class - large SUV. Anyway if it's not for you it's not for you.

Nor the Toyota Land Cruiser.

Jeep
Gwagon
Range Rover
They are all 4x4 and thats why they are not in the same category.
People seem to class a 4x4 the same as a SUV today, and they are totally differant to drive on road, and off.

I was only trying to help. The Discovery is listed by Whatcar? in their Large SUV category, that's where I got my info from but it is obviously time to bow out and leave others more knowledgable to it...

At one time the land Rover etc where all MPV.
Multi Purpose Vehicle
They prob do class them all as SUV.
Sport utility vehicle now.
Same as a lot of things are classed as something else these days.

Where does the 1700 come from? There are only a couple of Yetis which weigh over 1500kg. and most are well under this weight.

the MTPLM is 1,605 Kgs, so 85% is 1,364 Kgs.

The OPs van is 1,520 Kgs, so would be 95%

The review you referred to was for the early model. Bob was referring to the latest Yetis which are much lighter. Practical Caravan tested a 2.0 litre TDi 170 4x4 in 2014, which weighed 1535kg. and most of the last models were lighter than this.

This would mean towing at 99% or more, which I could never recommend.

The Practical Caravan review stated that the Yeti they used was 1,605 Kgs. Hence the 95% figure I wrote.

I have read the report, but this was written in October 2010 based on the original Yeti.

Later models (facelifted in 2014), which is what Bob was suggesting, are much lighter than this, and are not a suitable match.
