Quite correct Monty15. I do not drive in London. In fact I try to avoid driving in any city. Much better to avoid the need to drive through or, if visiting a city, use the park and ride. Much less stress and probably quicker than sitting in your car in a traffic jam.
In fact, if we are caravanning near a large town or city, we usually visit by bicycle.

My simple tips to reversing (admittedly gained solely from personal experience and with no official endorsement whatsoever) are:

- Buy yourself a toy car and trailer and have a play on the kitchen table, or your desk at work. That should help you get your head around the principles more quickly than any amount of words from people such as me.
- When you're ready to have a go for real, find somewhere quiet. I practised with a horse trailer on a local farm and could reverse that round a corner before I even got a full licence. But if you don't have that luxury, taking your caravan to an industrial estate or a supermarket car park on a Sunday evening should do just as well.

I'm not sure it's possible to prepare for every tricky situation you might find yourself in, but ultimately the principles of reversing are the same wherever you are.

A towing / manouvring course might just be what you need to improve your confidence - however, my suggestion would be to have a go yourself first because it will mean that whatever they're trying to tell you will be so much clearer.

Many years ago, I took the C&CC towing course. Well recommended.

One thing I did find very useful. Having been divided into groups, we started practice sessions. There was almost a fight to be first in the queue for the "reverse in a straight line" exercise. I stood back and let them get on with it. Finally, at the end of the queue it was my turn. Of course, by now I had been watching all the mistakes that the others had been making which made life a lot easier.

It is one of those things this towing malarkey
some people can
Some people cannot
That’s why a lot of campers have bought motor homes
Just sit back and observe the comings and go’s on a campsite
It beggars believe how some folk even get there.
