I've used several brands of towing mirrors over the years with different types of security attachment such as strap on and clamp on and found that the Milenco Grand Aero were far the best. However, after a recent post in connection with the EMUK towing mirrors I decided to purchase a pair for my Volvo for just under £120 but having used them twice in the last few weeks I found that they are worth every penny. Not only is the vibration totally eliminated but the vision has been increased due to the shape of the mirrors compared to the Milenco teardrop shape. As the Milenco ones are clamped to the edge of the door mirror housing from the front they do need to be tight to stop the wind dislodging the clamps but with the EMUK type being fully secured around the rear of the door mirror housing and secured at two outer points there is no chance of the towing mirrors coming off due to excessive wind pressure. The only disadvantage is that if you change the vehicle then it's going be harder to sell a dedicated pair of towing mirrors specifically for a vehicle than it would for ones that are universal.
One of the things I like about the strap-on mirrors is the security. I can't imagine anything causing them to come off apart from being struck by a very large and heavy object, such as another vehicle or a wall. Wind certainly wouldn't do it. Also, with the straps being some kind of rubber, they don't damage the car's mirrors in any way. The other thing I like about them is the large rectangular mirror head which is much more like the ones I remember from my coach driving days. I didn't like the look of the Milenco tear-drop shaped ones.
I have never understood some peoples' comments about vibration with them, although of course it may depend on the car they are attached to. However I have used mine on three different cars with no vibration problems whatsoever.

Colin
