Hi, we’re wanting to go from tenting to a caravan we currently have a NISSAN QASHQAI 1.5 diesel automatic, can someone help with what is the best caravan to tow we are wanting a 5 berth
Thank you
The first thing you need to do is find out what maximum weight your caravan can tow. Unless you can find a very lightweight one I think most 5 berth modern caravans would be too heavy, but older cavans are lighter.
It will help if you find the kerb weight of your vehicle.
This is under "Mass in Service" on the V5 document.
A "recommendation" is to tow a caravan of 85% of that weight for people new to towing. That weight is known as the Maximum Technical Permitted Laden Mass, or MTPLM.
For a 1,500 Kgs car that would mean a caravan of 1,275 Kgs.
How light does a caravan need to be to be safe with your car? You need to tell us your car weights and max tow weight as mentioned above so we can suggest suitable options. You also need to tell us what your budget is.

Could you advise what caravans are low weight 5 berth
You really need to be a lot more specific. Are you looking at new, nearly new, or an older cheap starter van? Older caravans, such as pre-2000 tend to be quite a bit lighter, but are often better built than some later vans. I have a 1992 Elddis, and by the sound of things that I have heard on this site I have had fewer problems with it than some people on here have had with 5 year old ones. My caravan is a 4 berth and weighs under a ton, but a modern equivalent is likely to weigh half as much again.
