Sadly, we don't have a 4x4 so not likely to be a problem for our Vectra even if we did have an ALKO jobby! But handy to know, should we win the lottery and want a 4x4 that we could even have another new caravan with an ALKO too! Well, a girl can dream.... (Not that we want another new caravan of course -only 5 days to hols and counting....) Defnitely sounding in need of this holiday, even my fingers aren't working right - where's spell check when you need it????

An update for all who were kind enough to share your advice and experience of the Wunderbar Winterhoff stabiliser!

It was BRILL! The whole thing and even I was able to work the easy handbrake on the system this time with one hand and I couldn't manage the old one even with both hands before!!! Shock overwhelmed me when moving it out of it's storage pitch just a touch before I could reverse the car back on to it owing to a bit of a narrow space accidentally left by next door parking a wee bit too close, (it's fine again now -phew!), and hubby was at the rear pushing while I just guided the front round a tad and he called out, 'put the handbrake on'! But I needn't have worried as it was just so-o-o easy - excellent and I felt quite chuffed with myself.

I diligently cleaned the tow ball and it's rubber cover with the meths until the tow ball shone like a new pin and the hitching up process appeared even easier than ever before too, (I'm always the one reversing the car back to it and noticed a lot less hand signals from hubby this year!). For the return journey back from the hols, I could once again be seen out there at 6am with me meths and cloth shining up the ball just to be on the safe side and it was excellent yet again.

Didn't even notice that awful pull that you tend to get from lunatic lorry drivers, (the caravan -not me!), or speeding coaches when they overtook on motorways. Whole thing felt far more stable and I for one, really enjoyed our whole towing experience with it much more than ever before as did hubby. NOT that it lulled us in to a false sense of security or anything we still stuck to the speed limits and didn't take any chances.

BUT when the idiot in front of us who was towing a boat and then stopped suddenly on a hill to let a lorry who wanted to do a right turn on to our road - we were very grateful for the stability of the unit! Emergency stop with fully laden caravan not the ideal test for the brakes mind you!  The caravan didn't even try to that tail wagging the dog thing at all - phew! Only thing that even happened inside the van, was that one of the seating back cushions fell over! Pleased that my loading passed muster yet again.

Can't wait for our next outing - FIFTY TWO BLDY WEEKS AND COUNTING.....
