I understand what you are saying but the 85% is a guideline and gives a basic starting point to work from, especially for inexperienced towers..

In point of fact, loading margins vary enormously even between vans from the same stable, and someones's ideas of what they need to take with them can vary a lot from another person's. I sometimes wonder when I see what some folk carry whether they have exceeded the MTPLM of their caravan anyway, so the 85% thing becomes irrelevant..

The Zafira (2.0DTI anyway) can tow up to 1500kg with 4 adults. The 1050 towing limit is for when you have all 7 seats occupied.

I think some of you are miss reading the original poster,he has a 1.6 zafira which has a Manufactures maximum towing limit of 1100 kg so the 85% GUIDE won't matter .He is looking for ideas on a suitiable caravan up to his cars towing limit.
