Just echo'ing Scamp's word
Do not drive a vehicle with part time 4WD on the road when in 4WD mode - there is very likely no centre differential to allow the difference in speed between the front axle and rear axle when cornering.
You will cause the transmission to wind up and break. A very expensive mistake.
BTW the Kia Sorento XS (and above models) are shown as permanent 4WD, they aren't!. They have a electro-mechanical centre clutch which detects slip, this then auto engages 4WD with the centre clutch. This means the front driveshafts and diff and always connected to the wheels. This may explain why the Xe and Xs models have different fuel consumption.
