You can pick up Jeeps quite cheaply, seen Cherokee diesels occasionally in local paper. 2.5 td should tow well.
4.0 litre petrols are great (hired one in USA) and not too bad on fuel, 20mpg in USA on their long straight roads at 70mph!
Cheaper fuel of course-but towing could be thirsty!!
Parts not as cheap or as easy to come buy as they are for Landies in UK obviously.
Having had 2(old) Landies, I can confirm parts are plentiful and not too expensive and old ones easy to maintain.Still love them but new ones are soooo pricey!
