I would think that age would still have castellated nut, easy enough to check by levering off hub dust cover. Window seal is pretty standard item. This place could probably supply them.
Hi Billy
Thank you for your advise on the seal thats great, as for the hub nut, unfortunately this lady lives in Bude a bit far for me to travel and she cannot take off the hub nut
Is there any sort of directory I could look at showing ALKO chassis and the type and size of nut?
I don't think the sealed bearings appeared until mid 90s & even then they were not universal until about turn of this century so I think its a fairly safe bet it has castellated nut & removable bearings that need repacking & new seals fitting. Spares are still available off shelf for both Alko & BPW chassis going back to 80s so servicing won't be problematic.
Hi Billy,
Thank you again great info, could I ask one more question, replacing the bearing seal, are there a number of variations, or will I need the casting number off the drum to determine the seal part number? or is there another way
Many Thanks
John
Trailer workshops normally have seals on the shelf but if you are diy'ing then this place supplies complete bearing kit. It appears that hubs are numbered.
