Having thought about this, here is my view.
I wonder if those that state "their blood boils/they deserve what they get/they're asking for it" would think differently if it was their child on the bike in font.
I know that driving standards are not perfect BUT why are so many people unable to control their own emotions when they see something that THEY decide isn't right. You only have one perspective, one view and they are not the law. It's not anyone's responsibility to take another road user to task, or if someone makes a mistake deliverately make things more difficult for them.
I make no appologies for stating that I believe many (but not all) road users to be self centred and hold other peoples lives in very low regard. A car weighs 1000kg-200kg and will injure, maime or kill on contact. It's not a question of I'm right so I'm not going to let you in/push you into the middle of the road/ swear at you/drive at you/ flick a V sign at you, it's a question of common decency.
Those that drive in an insular manner with no consideration are adding to the problem. Think of your fellow road user as your mother, would you like her to be on the recieving end of your actions? Kids sat in the back hearing mummy say new words that they then repeat at school. Where do we want this to go? Next time somone needs to get into your lane, let them, be of help to them, smile, they may smile and thank you. If you are polite, many will be polite in return and the more we are, the more others will follow. I know it sounds unrealistic but if you were teaching a child how to drive, how would you justify your actions?
Pedestrian, cyclist, car driver, bus driver, we all share the same space, no-one has more right to be there and if we were all just a little more tolerant of what we see, travel would be more more pleasant. Why not make someone elses journey easier for them? Next time they may make it easier for you

Its not should they,or not, bikers pay road tax. its just a pain when you go through a city centre, bike lanes or no bike lanes, bikes squeeze past you n/s or o/s, taking the paint with them, knocking the wing mirrors, then they turn round and look at you as if you have two heads!Just me maybe. but i have a right to be on any road i pay for a MOT road tax and ins. Bikers nil.We cant give a wide birth both sides for bikers, Horse`s i do slow down and give them a wide birth, when all said and done they have a brain.some bikers dont Ok should they hold a licence? maybe thats a better route to take, But then again a licence dont stop you from getting killed, but at leased they have read the highway code.
