I'm not quite yet in the market for a new tug, but I like to spend months researching the options... Current van is well under the 1,500Kg discussed in this thread, (1271Kg), but the current car couldn't cope with a heavier van. Would really like a car that could cope with a 1500Kg van, so we can increase the choice of van when we come to swap, so this thread has been a really interesting read for me.
I've only been considering 4x4's, although I'm not sure why?
We don't really go to sites that would entail driving across a muddy field, we can walk to work when it's snowing, and they certainly seem to be both more expensive to buy, run (as in tax, not sure about insurance), and fill up at the pumps than a 2wd that would cope with a 1500kg van.
But for some reason I always seem drawn back to gazing fondly at the 4x4 options, whether it be a Honda CRV, Freelander 2, Nissan X-Trail, or dreamily a new Kia or Volvo XC60.
This thread is a real gooden. Thanks all!
