My previous quote - Going by the car computer I get 30 mpg towing 1550 kg at 56 mph, with my Smax 2L tdci 140.
I forgot to mention I got 30 mpg towing my old 1300 kg caravan with the same car? When I got the new/er 1550 kg caravan I was surprised to get very similar mpg?

Are we the only people towing with a Peugeot these days.
We have a Peugeot 407. 2.0l diesel. Towing a compass fixed bed.
We get approx 25mpg when towing. But over 50mpg when not towing.

43 - 48mpg towing.
58ish mpg not towing.

does it scare you when you see the fuel needle going down when you are towing on a long run jim?

Not as bad as the Renault Laguna, 1.8 Petrol, I used to go to Spain a few years ago - on it you could HEAR the fuel needle rotating downwards

Nissan quashqai 1.5dci euro 4 engine towing fleurette tamaris 13 ft pop top on decent run towing at 60/65mph 40mpg, solo at around 70mph 60mpg. The current quashqai with euro 5 engine should be even better!. The 1.5 engine will romp up a long 1 in 5 in 3rd and 4th gears.

Kia Sedona 2.9 Diesel has 900kg payload and 200kg braked trailer weight.
Towing Lunar Clubman 1495KG plus wife's shoes!
Also carried in car 5 months of food supplies and work tools and my 125cc Scooter.
Average 28mpg over 700 miles through France!
