Well I'm grateful for you taking the trouble to raise this, as I for one would not have known or even thought about this.
I have had a load of Mercs over the years, and I have to agree that the Customer Service can be patchy. However the last two I had, were from MB Stratford on Avon and they where pretty decent.
As for the Skoda fanclub, again I agree that they are fabulous cars. We have had three so far, and the customer service has been brilliant. Two of those were bought from Hortons (your local dealer) The Superb is quite simply Superb.
I currently drive an Audi allroad, which absolutely smashes the MB in every way. It's is effortless to own and drive and has the added towing bonus's of air suspension as well as 4 wheel drive.
Really glad you got sorted. Good luck with finding a suitable non MB replacement!
