You don't need to attach the pole to the van. We have a piece of hollow tubing about 4 foot high which the pole fits into. We knock the tubing into the ground first with a bit of wood on top to stop it splitting and then slide the pole into it. Easy.

Thanks for that Margaret. At the moment he has attached it to the A frame where the TV ariel normally goes. Thats because we are parked on the drive at the moment..The alternative method which we have is a spike which is knocked into the ground and the telescopic flagpole slid over it. However the tubing sounds a good idea as well. So if we have booth with us we can use either or.
