Just a thought Lobey.what about depreciation ?
On a percentage of the purchase price probably quite high but given that the purchase price is so low in the first place what you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabouts.

Matt they aint that cheap not much change from 14 grand I'm sure we could buy something a bit better than a Albanian built Jalopy with defunct Renault and Datsun parts
Most cars that we have looked at have built in extras that we do not want. Indeed one of our present two Scenics is so over engineered that it has put us off ever buying another Scenic, so we are pleasantly surprised to find a car that is ideal for us and that we pick the extras that we want rather than what the manufacturer thinks we want.
Comments from the critics of this world really do not stand up when compared to the comments of British guys living in Romania who are driving Dusters, nor to critics like Honest John in car reviews.
But either way, we are really not interested in depretiation as we have no intention of selling it anytime in the next ten years. It is to be our FC tow car and that is all I am interested in.

Albanian
May or may not be a jalopy, but I doubt if you've tried one, so you shouldn't really comment.
I bought a Skoda when they were still a joke, but the joke was always on the Ford/Vauxhall buyers who'd spent a lot more money for an inferior vehicle. Nobody seems to think they are rubbish cars nowadays Who can say that it won't be the same with the Romanian Dacias
Renault believe they are on a winner with the Duster and the Sandero and in India alone their dealerships have grown from 14 to 49 in the last couple of years where these two models are their mainstay.
Then again the roads in India probably warrant the likes of a 4X4 so the Duster is bound to go down well there.
Where I live, weather conditions and tides can make our roads impassable at times to normal 2X4s so the chance of buying a 4X4 at a reasonable price is just too good to miss.
Lobey how did it go? I had one pull alongside me earlier, looked really good, didn't much go on the colour, it was all white and looked like a Tonka toy lol.
I don't know about Inverary, but there has been no snow here and although there has been a biting cold wind up until yesterday, it is mostly blue skies and sunshine with just the occasional passing shower of light snow.
We have had better weather this winter than we got last summer!
We cannot get away yet as I am still tied up as an executor to a friends estate and there is still much needing sorted out.
