Have you seen the latest Customer Satisfaction survey...apparently Jeep came bottom.

Having said that Bessacar don't fair well either in the caravan stakes and clearly they are top notch.

Regardless how top notch a product is, surely it all boils down to customer satisfaction, it's no good having the finest materials if they are not screwed together properly or the dealers are rubbish! Regards the jeep, I had heard they were expensive to own? not sure if this is correct though.

Hi,

That's the point I was trying to make..without knocking the Jeep. Bessacar buyers are more demanding, pick more faults, therefore Bessacar gets a lower rating.

The wifes had two Grand Cherokee's and we would not touch them with a bardge pole, like the post above we had 2 and yes they are botton of the satisfaction survey and for us it was constant faults and cost.

I have found a couple of great sites full of information on Grand Cherokee's :

http://www.ajeepthing.com/

http://www.wjjeeps.com/jmenu.htm

Although I have to say not much on the 3.1 TD engine model, that I'm after used on the 1999 - 2002 models I think.

Thanks
Chris Duncan

Hi Chris

I have owned 4 Jeeps, 2 Cherokee and 2 Grand Cherokee. I've just upgraded to the new shape Grand. They are generally reliable, and personally I've never had any problem with service issues. I find Jeep spares reasonably priced, but like anything else there are bound to be surprises.

They are comfortable to drive and will pull virtually anything.

I would advise you check things like the Air Con, Power Steering and Fuel Injection pumps which are really expensive to replace, but no more than any luxury car. Some models suffer from warped front brake rotors (discs) which cost about £180 to replace. Trim items can be steep as well.

I think the main problem buyers face is history, obviously a well maintained road driven vehicle is more advisable than one that has been driven Off Road.

I sold my 2002, 2.7 CRD 39000 miles for £8000, so they are available.

HTH

Paul
