Hi All,

Iv'e just bought a 2003 Galaxy Ghia TDI 130 and can't see, to find any info on nose weight, does anyone tow with a similar vehicle ?

If so I would appreciate the info and any hints, comments or tips.

Thanks in advance

Grant

I drove the VW Sharan which is the same car as the Galaxy & Seat Alambra

Whilst I didn't tow with - did cover alot of miles in it in my former job

It was an excellent vehicle - this was a 1.8 I think and seemed to have bags of power! Every time I pulled away from the light in it - the wheels spun!

Would think the Galaxy would be an excellent towcar!

According to the CC , the pre 2006 Galaxy nosewight limit is 85 kgs.  -  Post 2006 is only 75 kgs. - so, in your case, 85 kgs.

Galaxy, Sharan & Alhambra get great towing write-ups.

Hi Guys

I note with interest and some concern the comments about nose weight with the Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra. I've towed with a 115 TDI Alhambra and now with a 130 TDI Alhambra and have always understood that the nose weight load should not exceed 50Kg. This is also very difficult to achieve! Having just read the above posts I've looked again at the manufacturer's handbook and it quite clearly states that the max load is 50 kg. It does however state that roof load can be 75Kg. There is obviously a massive difference between 50 & 85 Kg. Does any one know which is correct?
It seems to me that it is very risky to exceed the manufacturer's limits

I've got a Sharan brochure here, and it definitely states max. towbar limit 85 kgs., as per CC info.

Let's hope somebody who has one can confirm/clarify.

50Kg doesn't seem like much for such a big car, especially when the car has 2 seats that mount close to over the rear axle that can each carry an adult.

Ford website is saying 80kg for all engine/trim varations for the new model.

I have owned 2 (1997 & 2001) Galaxy's both purchased with FACTORY fit towbars with 13 pin elecs (Brink & swaneck). Both were marked as 85kgs. On back window as well as on the bar. I believe some of the after market bars do not offer the same weight.

Hi Guys

I e-mailed Seat to find out the correct weight and they have come back with a vehicle specific answer of 85 kg nose weight. I have e-mailed back and asked why if this is the case does the Seat hand book state max load 50 kg!

Hi, we have a seat alhambra 1998 model (2l petrol), and are towing a Lunar venus 93 model laden weight 1100kg.  I was told this was a good match, but now I'm not sure.  I was told by dealer we could tow 1450kg comfortably.  Help please.

I can''t find any web info on a '98 Alhambra, but certainly going by the 2000 onwards figures, you've got a very good match, and I can't imagine there's a whole lot of difference on the pre 2000 car. The post 2000 Alhambra's 85% figure is 1398 Kgs., while the max tow is 1800 Kgs., with max noseweight of 85 Kgs.
