hi, we have just bought a Swift Challenger 4 berth caravan (never towed in our life!!) and have also bought a Mondeo LX 1800 petrol Estate.  Can anyone give adivce,  is this a good match?   this car has been used before to tow the same caravan, but have had no feedback on its performance.  would welcome comments before we start out.

I have a 2.0 ltr Mondeo pulling an Avondale Mayfly which is somewhat lighter than your Swift. My car pulls the van great on the flat and up normal gradients, and is very stable, however I do get a problem pulling away on a steep hill. Personally I think the mondeo 1.8 is a bit underpowered for your van, but should be ok, but try and plan your route avoiding really steep hills.

thanks, we thought the same, weve been planning routes without hills, as first time caravanners, were a bit worried.   we'll try and plan routes, like you said, probably go local and try it out.  being in Sheffield is a worry, so many hills.  but caravan is stored out on the A57, not far from Clumber Park, going to try that first.  cheers !
