Not an expert on these cars but my 7 series bmw needed extra cooling to tow a van,maybe something with auto box,s.i was suprised as i thought a 7 series would tow almost anything but it makes sense when you think about the harder work there doing.

Morning reedrider, Friend of mine had same problem(300Tdi), and done all you have done, his cure was to fit bigger oil cooler, tried the RR(P38) first, not much help then fitted a large one, problem solved, will contact him to find out how big(size). regards David.

Cheers for the help David I love the disco to bits and nothing can knock it but it was P***ing me off big time was thinking about buying a ******  but if I can do it with a bigger cooler then so be it

I had a disco II tdi auto to tow my swift corniche, did justw hat you say it did. I got rid sharpish, now tow witn avolvo with no stress whatsoever.
