As the question says. Very new to caravaning just brought the van home and can't seem to see how to get water? Early 90's ABI Award Daystar. All I can think is I've located a blue 2 core rubber tube with a white electric gizmo on the end. I'm guessing, that goes into the aquaroll and we don't have an on board water tank? Any help much appreiated.

we have an ABI  1995 ,  which use's (the blue pipe with the gizmo) you are right you need an aqua roll , then you will find there is a lift up hatch on the side if the van , plug the blue pipe in , turn the pump switch on in the van and away you go

hope this is what your looking for .

as you dont have the aqua roll , try it in a nice clean bucket of water to make sure it works

Hi, the "gizmo" at the end of the pipework is usually between six to eight inches in length. It is classed as a "submersible" water pump. Do not try to operate the water system without the pump being being submerged in water, i.e. as the previous posting by KVG69 suggests, place in a bucket of water, if no Aquaroll. They burn out if not in water and cost approx. £30.00 to replace, depending which type you have. If no sealing cap is present, an "Aquacap", costing £2.00 or £3.00 is easily available on the 'net.

Hope this info is useful, learnt about water systems myself over ther last three weeks.

Regards, Norman.

have you turned on a tap?

Sounds like you have turned on the water heater, or the main power switch, but the taps have microswitches that activate the pump.

Try them all individually to make sure each switch works.

Not sure what you mean by micro switches but I've turned on all four taps and still nothing. As I know so little, Is there maybe a water tap somewhere In the van that needs turning on?

Edited; Sorted. Had turned on the heater not the water pump.
Another question please. I have switched on a thing called "Cascade 2" does this work loke an immersion heater? If not; how do I get hot water? The van does have this facility. apparently.

the "cascade 2" is your water heater , probably just inside the van from where you plug the blue gismo pipe to the out side , will be under one of the seats , will be covered in polystyreen (spelling)mmh fill your aqua roll to the top as the cascade will draw in about 2 gallons of water when its turned on ( use the switch's you first thought where the water pump ) but you either have to be plugged into 240v or the gas turned on for this to heat up the water . gas will self light itself, turn on the main water pump , wait 10/15 mins . hey presto hot water , the longer you leave it the hotter it will be .

i never leave mine on more than 20mins , just incase i damage it

hope all this makes sense , ive had a few beers

hi gandalf, we have an abi rallyman, same setup as yours sounds like. What I found was that the microswitches on the taps were a bit tempermental and I had to gently turn the tap in the wash hand basin on and off while I fiddled with the one on the kitchen sink it seems to work for us.good luck.
