Question to all you Terrano towers, does the auto box on a Terrano have an oil cooler factory fitted, if not, has anyone experienced over heating probs on long drags, and  would it be advisable to have one fitted? Thirdly, if it is, at what cost? I'm seriously considering jumping into the 4x4 towing fraternity as my trusty Volvo 940 is begining to creak a bit and I need the weight ratio of something on the lines of the Terrano.

If you are a CC member you can access their website and see what they reccomend.

I have in the past had similar predicaments with different cars. The last car I had a problem with was a mercedes. I couldn't find anywhere that said I needed one, and "Kenlowe" the manufacturer advised the fitting of one, but couldn't tell me where to fit it! There was absolutely no room where it could be fitted.

I didn't fit one and the car overheated! So as far as I am concerned, tow with it and see! An expensive experiment if you get it wrong.

I now have an oil cooler for sale!

Oh, welcome back to the forum!

Ive got a T2 - 2001 Model (with the cut out in the bonnet), father in law has a 2006 one.

Car has a `visious` (if thats how its spelt) fan that kicks in towing up hills etc. I tow a 1300kg van with mine, father in law tows a 1800kg twin axel... never had any probs.

Thanks for the info Carls, you did'nt say if yours or your f.i.l.'s T2 was auto box or manual, and I think you mean 'viscous' fan. Thanks again.

Carls

Ta for the return, I suppose a manual box will be able to handle the heavy loads better than an auto, anyway thanks for all your info. I'll have to keep on digging about it.
