Hi

We are looking for information which will help us decide what tow car to change to next.  Want information on Crewcab pick up trucks, the reason being it will make it easier to take the bikes and will give more torque when pulling the van.

Are open to others such as Jeep Cherokee 2.5D but unsure as to MPG for either types as this will have a bearing on what we plump for.

Any info or recommendations gratefully accepted as our poor old Zafira needs a rest.

Cheers17

Debs

Do you need such a large car? Something like an X-Trail size vehicle would pull your van with ease and you would get reasonable economy. I don't think the crew cabs give very good MPG and the ride will be very different from your current car. Just a thought.

hi

we tow with our much loved jeep cherokee 2.5td we love it and with an average of 28mpg on a run towing we find it to be good on fuel!

the cherokee has a nice ride for a 4x4 with good room inside for the family and dog!

we find not many caravan mags use the jeep in the reviews but wish they would!

we love our one and are going to change it for a new one soon!

the torque on the jeep is good no problems up berlip hill!

Consider the Mercedes ML range: I have a ML270CDi and have never regreted that decision. I tow a 2006 Coachman VIP520/4 and the car excels in all departments

Here's a link to a review carried out in 2005 of various vehicles, pick ups included. The pick ups were the most poorly rated. review

Have a look at the X Trail thread that is running, I posted some links to Warranty Direct where you can compare reliability of the different vehicles.  Afraid Jeep did poorly.
