I have fitted a few, Witter are very good, clear instructions. The easiest was a Frontera-just bolts to the chassis, electrics fit into a plug in the boot. Then change flasher unit for 4 pin one to activate the dash lamp! Worst was a Saab ,bumper off, lots of bits and holes to drill ( bumper weighs a ton!)
Latest car Kia Sorento , had it done by the dealer as it is covered by the warranty. The car is only 9 months old. Interestingly they use a local specialist firm.
Some modern cars have multiplex wiring which can make the electrics a bit more complex, you can't splice into the loom as in older vehicles. They also sometimes need the management system to be updated via dealer test equipment!
