Thanks Clanjones. I,ve checked the website and it gives it an 88% ratio. I know that the towing limit is 1500 kg but it still seems a good match.

Hi Gavel,

I thought you were in the process of buying a Citroen Picasso quite soon time ago? it was me who left the review on Whattowcar, I have no problems at all now in towing my series 5 Vendee, the gearbox is a dream once you get the hang of it, go for it you won't be disapointed.

Micky

Hi Micky,

Thanks for post. We are in the process of buying the C4 through Motability. Opinions seem to be mixed re the EGS gear box, the weight, the cornering  and the fact that it is a Citroen. Apart from thses points we are going ahead. have you any other comments please?

Hi Gavel- further to your points on the new C4- my freind has just changed from an 04 Pic to the new C4 Pic-5 seater- he is towing an Eldiss without any problems.  He says that it is actually better than the old one.  We too have an 05 Pic on Motability and we are undecided which one to get- the 5 or 7 seater---it is the noseweight with us.  The 5 seater noseweight is 60kg and the 7 seater is 70kg.  Our 05 Pic at the moment is 80kg and thinking of having to move 20kg out of front box doesn't seem possible as we are a family of 5.  Good luck though in what you choose and remember there are people here who would like your comments on the car.  Cheers Gary

Had a C4 Grand exclusive since august 07 and was a bit worried about its towing ability due to the reviews i had read about the box,the towing weights, etc.
Don't be put off.
I love the box. Best of both worlds. A dream to drive in manual mode, as smooth if not smoother than a manual and if you are feeling lazy the auto works well too. The reviewer must just not like auto's.
Don't be put off by the towing weights either, if you look at the gross train weight and transferred weights it's quite capable with the handbook quoting 1700 towing limits.

I tow a hobby 540 with a miro of 1500 and it returns 30mpg towing and thats not hanging about. I'm sure if i stuck to below 60 i could get that up to mid 30's. Great economy for a big car. Just had a recent trip to Scarborough and tackled some pretty big hills and it took them in it's stride.

I also have a subaru 2.0xt which won towcar of the year and the c4 feels nicer to tow with (probably due to the heavier kerbweight, but the scooby whups its ass on grass and wet stuff.

Highly recommended and don't believe everything you read in the paper.
