Hi - Just purchase a mondeo 1.8TD but unsure what the kerbweight is to work out what caravan we could tow.  Anyone any ideas?

You could tow it ok, although the performance wouldnt be that great as you only have 88bhp--but dont let that put you off, the performance would be adequate--well within the car's capabilities. once you loaded the caravan you would be up near 85% of the cars kerbweight--

no, but dont load to much weight in the boot--the caravan noseweight should be around 70kg-ie there should be about 70kg pressing down on the towball--if you load a lot of weight in the boot you will overload the back axle-- the back of the car will be right down & 'van will also point down-not good--

At 1335kg, the 85% guideline level is 1135kg which means 175kg of equipment if you want to keep within the 85%. Check under the features section for example equipment weights.

How many berths is the nightstar you're looking at? I had a look at a couple on the net today and they were all 5 berth and around 1150kg unladen. My '91 abi tristar is 4 berth and 1035kg unladen.

One option to keep your boot loading at the right level, and if you're limited with what you can put in the van, is to use a roofbox. It will also help with the aerodynamics, we use one on our octavia estate.
