General rule of thumb

Red outline on the TDI badge 115bhp

All red TDI badge 130bhp

But you could have been sold a pup

Picking up on barks post, I had a few Galaxy company cars when I worked for Ford and from what I remember the "TDI" badge on the back goes as follows :

All silver letters : 115 bhp

Silver letters with red outline :  130 bhp

All red letters : 150 bhp

Barks - it might be worth double checking the engine no as per Gloebears advice - you may have more horses than you thought ?

Interestingly, these all have the same 1.9 turbo diesel engine, with the same 220 lbft max torque output.  There is a noticeable difference in driving, but not much - felt most at higher revs/speeds eg on the motoway.

By the way, this only applies to the Mk II Galaxy.  The Mark I had a 1.9 TDI but with 90 or 110 bhp output.

And of course...TDI badges can always be bought afterwards and stuck on any car, so don't rely on this rule of thumb when buying !!
