id have to say a manual as well i used to have an auto and it felt gutless compared to manual and i found it took the fun out of driving the auto i had was a pajero so could tow ok but just felt like it took days to get to 50 then when i did i had to brake for a roundabout lol
Having got my auto stuck in a muddy field yesterday (that was without getting hitched up) and seeing a manual Mondeo drive off the field quite easily an am starting to think a manual might be better in a muddy field. Had to get the van towed out by a friendly 4X4 driver as I couldn't even get the car to the van, let alone tow the van out.
I reluctantly admit that there is a place for 4X4s in the caravanning world after all. I still remain convinced they have no place outside the school gates though.
Know what you mean, I've been having fun last couple of weeks on muddy fields. Today I tried using the "snow" gear when normal drive didn't do it, still no joy, then I used 1st and hey presto. So next time I'll use 1st again and see whether it was just luck.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
Most of us only spend a small proportion of our time towing and the majority driving solo. I would never have an auto, just too damn ponderous. I let my dad off with having one but his excuse is he only has one working leg.
