Interesting article here.

Yes I know it is in the Daily Mail but James Lovelock is a well known scientist.

I thought this quote was particularly interesting "Everyone could burn coal all day and drive around in 4x4s and it would not make a scrap of difference," he says. And this one -

"Bali (the latest international climate change agreement) may make things worse. One peculiarity is that when you burn coal and fuel you not only put CO2 into the atmosphere, which makes the Earth warmer, but you also put out a lot of dust and haze, which acts as a screen and cools the Earth."

So, if there is an economic downtown and there is less industry in China, global warming could worsen."

Who knows eh?

Thanks for that Snowy, I've thought for a long time that things have already gone beyond the point of no return. Lovelock started off scientifically but then got a bit political, nevertheless his points are valid. A friend of mine always says its a natural cycle and seems more dramatic because we are actually living it, whereas before there were only the dinosaurs to witness it. Who is right?

I should be in here having another rant about this! But I said enough in another thread last week, or so. Can't find it now!

I've just woke up and smelled the coffee and took a look on the world map...Did you know we are but a mere speck on this map and even if this country's emissions were reduced to zero large countries such as India and  China would take up the slack within days.Global warming is the new religion and to question it is akin to being a holocaust denier or a flat earther.

Watch out for earlier diesels.   I sold a year 2000 VW LT35 motor caravan as the charge for driving or parking inside of the M25 would be around £200 per day from 2010.  Recent diesel vans emit a lot less polution.  This sort of thing will spread countrywide.  The answer must be smaller caravans.  I brought a used Rapido Club 30 pop top.  Its max loaded weight is 630kg. The narrow width means no mirror extensions, you can see through the caravan windows from the inside drivers mirror.  Adding an awning adds space with little weight.  Used larger cars and caravans are about to become very much cheaper.   Look at the used value of small caravans like the Eriba puck.  Small caravans are comfortable and fun.

The thing is small cars and small caravans are no good for people who have more than 2 children.  We have 3 kids and 2 labs and have ended up getting a bigger caravan cause my eldest son who is 15 is too big for beds meant for children and so's my 13 year old come to think of it.  We also have an old 4x4 as we rally all year round and after seeing how many saloons got stuck and then needing to be being towed off by a 4x4 over the Easter weekend I'm glad we have it.

Dear Peasants

I dont know what all the fuss is about. Its quite simple really.

You should all be aware by now that we, the governent ,only has your best interests at heart. We plan unillaterally, that means on our own, to turn back the climate change clock just like we did to the nasty Germans. Rule Brittania dont you know.

Its very imortant that none of you questions our climate change statistics as we will then consider you to be heretics and you will be burned at the stake. But rest assured we will off-set the carbon which is created during your execution by planting a wind turbine on your grave. We used to cast heretics ashes to the wind but unfortunately the wind is too inconsistant.

You must understand that although we are a socialist goverment commited to fairness for all we dont actually mean all of you, we mean all of us.

I discussed the forth-coming car tax increases with your illustrious leader whilst in our private limo on the way to our private jet on the way to our luxury suites at our 6 star hotel at the climate change conference in Bali and we were both of one mind, we must reduce the carbon footprint of Britain. It is unfortunate that certain elements of the population, a splinter group of radicals who call themselves "taxpayers" thought that taking a few hundred advisors with us to Bali was excessive and that if the conference had been held in the Happy Eater at Merthyr Tydfil that the turnout would be less. This is a scandalous accusation made by ill informed malcontents..........or so my wife, daughter, her friends and their families said during a recent short break..........coincidentally in Bali.

You must understand that if you the "hoy poloy" dont carry on paying your car tax we will have to find other sources of revenue to fund Britains world beating pensions scheme* and any other method will be much harder to disguise as "green".  So please keep your little noses to the grindstone, there`s good children.

God Bless

Mr A Darling

Hilarious and oh so accurate.

I see the Beeb who only a few weeks ago were crying over drowning polar bears are sending more staff to China to cover the olympics than we are sending athletes.

Dear snowy747

I can only agree. It amazes me that a publicly funded body like the BBC could show such rank hipocracy.

I should however not be overly concerned, about this carbon emmision as the growing disquiet about China`s occupation of Tibet is likely to stop the Olympics happening anyway.

Thankfully this goverment has no such concerns regarding the 2012 Olympics to be held in London because Iraq and Afganistan dont have such a charismatic leader as the Dali Lama to press their cause.

As chancellor I find it very difficult to balance the budget and I have found that by imposing huge tax increases on the "worker ants" ,as i like to call you, it makes my life tolerable.  To the few people who  have tried unreasonably to say that you cant afford to pay more tax I would say "just vote yourselves a pay rise". thats what we do in the corridors of power Its simple really.

I hope this clarifies our position.

WarmestRegards

Alister Darling MP

Dear Alister, Darling

You have ruined my Saturday by reminding me of yet another white elephant for dear old Blighty, mainly the Olympics that will doubtless run drastically over budget at great expense to the taxpayer and detriment to the lottery fund recipients.  Having spent billions on it nothing will work, of course, somewhat akin to T5 at Heathrow no doubt where the rowers will find the lakes bereft of water because somebody made the plugs too small, and the velodrome will be overcome with the "wrong kind of leaves".

I am afraid I am unable to vote for a higher pay rise for myself so instead I shall vote with my feet, out of the country at the earliest opportunity.

Tarrah.

Snowy

Dear Tarrah

If you remember, when New Labour was elected in that glorious summer of 1997 on a wave of enthusiasm,  we the government inherited the millennium dome from the conservatives which was i am sure you remember was a great imbarrasment to us and a huge drain on you little people.

As we full expect to be sunning ourselves on a beach at our private villa`s by 2012. How we laughed when we won the Olympic bid and realised that we could return the favour to the Tories. Of course you little people will still have to pay but I am sure you wont mind.

Your friend

Alister

Hello again Alister, Darlink!

Just for the record my name is Snowy not Tarrah so please have your secretary amend any future correspondence.

What a jolly jape to play on the Tories eh, you old boys must sit in your clubs drinking your scotch having a right laugh plotting your revenge.  Running the country sounds an utter scream how about letting me have your job for a year or two?

Snowy

(D'ya reckon we're skating on thin ice here Tim with our political tom foolery?  We'll get suspended ya know!)
