Hi All

Hope one or some of you can help

We are purchaing a Landrover Frelander2001, which currently has a detachable single electric tow bar ( the tow bar is marked with the landrover name so am presuming this is the make)

As we have a caravan we obviously need a twin package and the seller states that adapters are available to convert a single to a twin

If this is the case, where would the adapter be purchased from, how much roughly and how easy or difficult are they to fit

Wonder if any of you guys can advise

Cheers

if the socket is a 7 pin I dont see how it can be used with an adapter, did the seller mean the extra 12 S grey socket for the fridge, split charger and reversing lights can be added alongside the 12 N black socket, any auto electrician or towbar fitter will be able to fit a 12S socket for you.

Or has the veh been fitted with the new Euro 13  pin socket,in which case a adapter lead is avaible from any good Caravan seller

David

As said, A single 7 pin socket cannot be made into a twin.  You need to add the 12S socket.

A 13 pin is not very common, but can be used with an adapter to give 2 x 7.  Or convert the van to 13 pin.

If your car has only a single 7 pin socket--you will have to get the second socket fitted & wired into the car----you can of course tow your caravan with just the black plug plugged into your car---the lights will work but you cannot work your fridge while driving & your caravan battery wont charge--

---Alternatively if your car has been fitted with a single 13 pin socket(unlikely on a car of this age)you can then buy a 2 into 1 adaptor from your caravan shop--

It sounds like it will be a 13 pin socket but with a 7 pin adaptor plugged into it. Try and twist the socket, I think anti clockwise but maybe wrong. You should then find the 13 pin socket. If it is 13 pin you need to buy an adapter, they have one plug and two cables. Towsure should have them.

That was the case with our car which is an 02 so my guess is it will be the same.

Hope this helps

Andy
