please help i get so confused with all the numbers!!!!!
I don't know what age your Vectra is, but according to Honest John in October 2004, he quoted the KW as being between 1469 and 1521kg. So you might be ok as far as the ability of the car to tow, but you'll be a bit close weightwise.
According to my 07' vectra manual the kerb weight will be about 1550 Kg - about 92% - perhaps a bit high over the recommended 85% but still perfectly legal.
As for power you should not have any problems at all - we only have the 120BHP model - it tows like a dream.
According to the abelgratis web site on towing abililties,
the Vectra towing weight is 1600 Kgs, but the kerb weight of the vehicle is 1500 Kgs, so following the 85% guidelines, a max towing weight of 1276 Kgs is advised.
I'm checking into the towing weight of the estate version with an auto box, as the 3 litre version is limited to towing 1200 Kgs and so I may have to consider a manual one to get the towing figure over 1300 kgs.
Cheers,
Jim.
We tow a Sprite Major 5 (Max. wt. 1350Kg) with 07 Vectra 1.9tdci 150.
I recon our van is 84% of kerbweight using manufactutreres handbook data.
Loads of power so you should have no problem towing your heavier van. The only thing I find is 6th gear is a bit tall for 60 mph cruising and car is happier in 5th on the motorway. You will be legal but well over 85% rule.
