I used a Straightliner as well as the Alko for a while including tows to Barcelona
But after it came up on a website I emailed Alko and they said that it would put too much strain on the towball
They didn't mention the A frame in their reply to me
I personally felt that there was just the same strain as it seemed to me that it was coming from the caravan and that the strain was being shared between 2 stabilisers etc
As Alko had said NO I reverted to one Alko stabiliser which by now (since my email) has bigger friction pads and so must itself exert more strain on the towball than the older model I would have thought!! 
But having asked for advice I felt obliged to take it
