Many thanks to you all for your assistance. Will give OH all the facts and he can go from there.  Probably won't know how to attach the pole to the van and the flag to the pole

Was bad enoough sorting the TV ariel mast out. lol    I jest

You don't need to attach the pole to the van. We have a piece of hollow tubing about 4 foot high which the pole fits into. We knock the tubing into the ground first with a bit of wood on top to stop it splitting and then slide the pole into it. Easy.

Hi Oldham.

Apparantly only flags registered can be flown legally. Others are considered advertisments and if you Google Official Yorkshire Flags you'll find lots info.

What part of Oldham do you hail from?    I lived there once upon a time.

Waterhead  was Yorkshire then Lancashire now Greater Manchester with  great views of Cheshire.

Eee by gum lads interesting stuff. We thought that we had problems between Humberside and Yorkshire! No  chance that I would fly a Humberside flag (even if they had one!) Yorkshire flag though is very attractive-maybe tempted-thanks

Thanks for that Margaret. At the moment he has attached it to the A frame where the TV ariel normally goes.  Thats because we are parked on the drive at the moment..The alternative method which we have is a spike which is knocked into the ground and the telescopic flagpole slid over it.  However the tubing sounds a good idea as well.  So if we have booth with us we can use either or.

You lot think you have trouble with flags? Come over to N.Ireland and we can have some serious discussions on flags!
