Well we have gone and done it....saying goodbye to the Mondeo estate and hello to a Kia Sorento 2.5 CRDi XE Automatic - hope we have made the right choice.

I think it was the last straw last weekend when we were towed out of a field by a tractor pulling a 4 x 4 pulling our van... nightmare.  Admittedly this was a bizarre situation and does not happen all the time but we were already concerned that the Mondeo's kerbweight was just too limiting. We tow an Abbey Expression at 1423 mtplm... well now with a kerbweight of 2079 it just gives us that little more scope.  I only hope that I have made the right decision which I did after reading lots of comments on here.

Anyway roll on Thursday when we collect our new car...... and you never know he might just take me away in October!!!!

btw - hope to meet some of you at the caravan show this year.

Karen

Karen

I hope you enjoy. We have been very pleased with ours. Would like it to be a bit more economic but it does everything you could expect as a tow car.

I will let you know with pleasure.  We have to get a towbar first but believe me he will be taking me away sooner rather than later....

I have read several reports on here which basically say they are wonderful and they were towcar of the year last year...

Elizabeth,

The Jeep GC is a nice big car and pretty refined, but when you then take into consideration the price of a Sorento, it's a bit of a 'no brainer', as they say these days!

And having had 5 Jeeps, the only warranty item with the Sorento, now with about 45000 on the clock, has been a new radio aerial!!

We replaced a Frontera with a Sorento ( we loved the Frontera -having had 3 but last one had irritating problems so had to go!)

They are very good towcars, we have a Pageant Burgundy which it tows effortlessly. Solo they are very good 200rpm is 70 mph, about 60-65 towing. We found you have to use the gears a bit more than on the Vauxhall, but once in 5th it romps along. You have to watch your speed!!!

If you get the XS or XT you get cruise control which is great in France, the climate control is good too. Ours did 2000 miles in July (down to S of France) towed a treat!!

We had a new steering rack under warranty ( a seal was weeping but as it was warranty they replaced the whole ish rather than the seal).

Our dealer is not brilliant so we will take it to a different one for the next service!

Economy not as good as the Frontera, about 30-33 mpg solo, towing 25-27 but our van is light (max 1400Kg)

Hope you enjoy your Kia.

We swapped our Mondi TDCi for the Sorento... never looked back. The Mondi was chipped so performed like hot s**t, but it was the weight ratio that swayed us. We get about 28mpg towing with the Sorento, not a whole lot less than the Mondi's 35-38mpg. Sadly the Sorri does not have the solo mpg of the Mondeo.

Hi Welcome to the world of Kia - What a great choice Karen.  We love our Sorento and I am sure you will too.

We also had aFrontera which developed some very annoying quirks, so we swapped it for a Sorento and have now just got our second sorento, a newer one, best tow car for the money out there.

We tow a lunar lexon twin axle no problems at all.
