Hi and welcome to UKCS.

We bought a new one in Feb  this year a manual 2ltr Diesel XS. OMG I loved it. what a fab car and excellent for towing will tow up to 1800. We towed our caravan the length and breadth of Britian and the Sportage performed fantastic .

The only reason we upgraded to the Sorento was because we changed our caravan and the new one is much much heavier. If we hadn't changed our caravan we would still have the Sportage

The 7 year warranty is also a fantastic thing

You go for it. You won't regret it. Take it from someone who has had one and towed with it.

Mine tows a 1500kg van with ease. Not too bad on diesel, not too big round town, Not cheap but was good value. 4wd great on wet grass on campsite - no more spinning wheels! Plus loadsa standard equipment, no rattles or squeaks, but no street cred. Caravan Club sites are full of them atm, and for good reason. If your van is under 1800kg consider one. If it is a big heavy van get a sorento or sedona. All are excellent tow cars.

So is the Kia Carens Diesel. Very comfortable and loads of power from the 2 litre engine. Actually pulls better than the Sorento we had.

The rear suspension was upgraded on the Sportage in 2007, did this not up the 75kgs or did it stay the same.

The recommended nose weight is FROM 5 to 7 percent and 5 percent of 1500kgs is 75kgs so don't fret about it.
I would load the caravan to ensure it is only 75kgs and go for it ....
