I am about to order a Citreon C4 Grand Picasso EGS. Will the citreon fitted detachable swan neck towbar work with my Alko AKS 3004 stabiliser?

Help, I am new to this.

Ian

I think you will find that most swan neck tow balls will be OK for the AlKo as the tend to have a longer neck. Its usually the tradition towball that you need to change.

Thanks for the info David.

I am keen to have the standard, Citreon fitted, detachable swan neck towbar if poss as I think it will help with warranties.

Hi we have a 2.0HDI VTR+ EGS 7seater Grand Picasso and we tow with ours, we had a normal towbar fitted at our local towbar place--no swan necks--don't like them.  Ours with twin electrics fitted was £250 plus the dreaded Vodka And Tonic!.  When we ordered our car we enquired and the cost through Citroen was ridiculous.

Good Luck, Gary

Thanks Gary

Garage fitting swan neck towbar for about £280, which I dont think is bad, I am told it needs to be removable otherwise reversing sensors dont work.

How do you get on with the EGS when towing?

Hi Ian- we have no problems at all, motorway flick it in cruise control and away you go.  We went to Derbyshire the other weekend, going along the A6 we  were behind a cement mixer and as we went round a roundabout onto a dual carriageway and we overtook the cement mixer going up a hill in 5th gear and we didn't feel any difference.  The wife drives our car even when towing and she just tootles along using the paddles, prefers that to the Auto way.  We travelled from Wigan to Darley Dale with our 4 birth Bailey Ranger and our youngest son and the journey roughly worked out using just under £10.00 of diesel.  The trickiest bit about it is the reversing to the van for hitching up as the EGS is a bit jerky, but as they say practice makes perfect.  Happy caravanning. Gary

Thanks Gary for the info.

I had read about EGS being jerky,  but was very impressed with it when I did a test drive (it is much smoother than I can change gear!) Car should be ordered today!

Ian....best wishes mate- you will not be dissapointed with your new car.  MAny many things to press + twiddle- putting the diesel in was my first boo boo, parked it on the left of the pump got out and thought they hadn't fitted a filler cap!! DOH!! then had to move the car to the other side as the filler cap is on the passenger side.  Good Luck though and let us all know how you go on.  Cheers Gary
