Just got a new to us second hand runabout.

Came from a dealer who seems to have polished not just the car but the windscreen as well.

Any water near it and it smears badly.

With the above problem in mind, just how would you clean it and prob. the wipers as well?

Meths works well, not a bad idea to add some to the washer bottle as well.

I usually get this 'grease' following another car through the car wash, if they've splashed out for the super duper wash wax and blow dry

Autoglym windscreen polish .... all Autoglym products work very well ......................(no connection etc- v.satisfied customer!)

Vingar and water mix? Just rinse off well before you put the window wiper things on though!

Tooth paste works well as does the Autoglym mentioned earlier.

Meths should do the trick but just be careful about adding too much to the water bottle. It may affect the window rubbers I'm told. I was always convinced the black stuff was just muck coming off

the cheapo baby wipes would do it, if they have alcohol in them, failing that glass/mirror wipes work quite well, or just plain old washing up-liquid and warm water.

We cleaned our factory glass with ammonia. Make sure you are in fresh air though, if you use it. I dont think it would do your wiper rubbers any good!

Swarfega hand cleaner. (For the windscreen, not for drinking.)

Leave it on overnight then wash off with warm soapy water. Works a treat.

White vinegar works good on both glass & wiper blades. It's alot cheaper too compared to all those 'flashy' cleaning products. When you given everything a good wipe over just a quick rinse & your away.

To be sure I would do all your windows.

Our dealer did the same to my car just before I collected it. It's the fault of the valeter who is probably some teenage kid from school working weekends who doesn't know any better & who hasn't been told not to wax the windows.

I tried toothpaste first as I reckoned it would smell a little better than the vinegar.

It actually works!

I am sure that the other suggestions would also but our windscreen is now clean.

I love UKCS you can both get good advice and a smile at the same time.
