hi again as i under stand it as long as the cars weight is heavier than the caravan and does not exceed little more than 85 % its ok                                                 but The unladen weight of the avondale is 1180kg max is 1400kg

kerb weight of the zafira 2007 is 1535kg with towing equipment

gross weight zafira is 2095

gross train weight is 3305

so long as the caravan is carrying no more than 1300 kg

and the car has all the weight this would be okay or not? This is what the manual says

Assuming that the figures you have are correct, that would leave a payload of just 120Kgs for the caravan. Not a lot. Here is a rough estimate of weights:

Item KG
Full Awning and Poles 40.0
Porch Awning and Poles 20.0
Jack and Winding handle 2.5
60 Ampere/hour battery 16.5
Noseweight Gauge 1.0
10" Portable Television 8.0
Portable Radio Cassette 2.0
Television Aerial (outside) 1.0
Roll-a-long Water Carrier and handle 3.2
Waste Water Container 1.0
Fire Extinguisher 1.5
Caravan Step 3.0
Mains Extension Lead 20/25metres 5.0
Heavy Duty Hitchlock 6.0
Heavy Duty Wheelclamp 15.0
2 x 7kg LPG Cylinders 30.0
Chemical Toilet (empty) and chemicals 6.0
Water - per litre 1.0
Torque Wrench 1.2
Sunlounger (metal frame) 5.0
Folding Deck Chair (alloy/steel frame) 1.5/3.0
Picnic Table 6.0
Wood Levelling Ramp 4.0
Pots, pans, crockery etc. for four persons 8.0
Sleeping bag and bed linen (per person) 6.0
Clothing & shoes (per person) for 1 week 15.0

The weights in the above list are all approximate.

You'll have used up your limit before you start adding clothes, shoes, toys, table, chairs, food, drinks or an awning.

Larry supposing you only part load your caravan to keep to 1300kgs or less and carry your family plus all you extra gear in the car which has a 565kg loading allowance you then risk overloading your car .Your Zafira really is not suitable for that particular Avondale

I feel sorry for larry.h. I bet he wishes he hadn't asked. It makes it all look a bit intimidating.

I think it's probably as well that he did ask, rather than just load up & go, and find out when it's too late that the outfit isn't legal and/or safe on the road.

Although it would have been better for him if he had asked the questions before buying the caravan.
