Hi
I am thinking of getting one of the above but which engine size is better for towing ,are they any good as a tow car , has any one got one good or bad just say .
it will need to tow a 5 berth van just getting the car for now.
Not many good things said about Renaults on here so take that how you want to, but I will say if you want to tow a large caravan with it you will be better off with the turbo diesel. I think you can get a 2.2 which sounds ok. The V6 petrol would also tow well enough but it would be very thirsty.
If you want a car that size you would be better off getting a Ford Galaxy 1.9 diesel or the VW or Seat version of the same car, but I'm guessing you have been offered the Espace very cheaply.

Hi
Thanks for the replies the car I have now is a Renault Grand Scenic and its never let me down won't pull anything as its a 1.6 .
Needed the bigger boot for the dogs and it has a good ncap rating 5* better than most and no not been offered it cheap it will either be a ex demo or new .
but will be looking at others
Renault reliability is not the best, even though you have one at the moment, once you stick a van on the back the car works harder,
I have had friends who have had scenics, meganes, clios and espaces and they just aren't the best I am afraid, Have a look at the Kia sedona, great cars and great at towing, Is next on our list when OH's dies,

my brother in law has one biiiiiiiig repair bills im afraid and biggest thing his pulls is his tent lol!!!! really renault a mine field of elctrical faults and the grand scenic 2.2 i think it is diesel has problems with a pulley busting on cam cost trade (i am trade ) 125 quid then clutch master cylinder 500 quid then clutch not sure yet he aint got it back and the day the bonnet release bust omg 100 quid bill catches impossible to release!!!!! but thats just his may be he got the baD ONE LOL oh no we are on a bout renault lol!!!! its if you get the good 1
We had an Espace 2.2 The Race version, diesel, initially we were really pleased with it. However after about six months, it decided to go all hormonal on us, and we'd find ourselves driving along, and the power would just cut out. The garage couldn't find anything wrong with it. Needless to say, the car went !! we could not get rid of it quick enough.
The most annoying part is that prior to this, we'd had three other renaults all pre caravans, and pre kids, and never had any problems. This one has tarred all renaults for me i'm afraid !
