Hi Donna - I tow too, and like you the first few miles I had white knuckles from gripping the wheel so tightly. Then I relaxed only to think when automatically looking in the rear view mirror ' Blooming 'eck who's the idiot in the white van driving so close to the back of me ?' ..... before realising it was the caravan! 

Much more confdent now though! Go away on trips on my own with the kids when the OH is playing cricket. Folks on site have always been willing to help with pitching. Caravannners are a friendly bunch.

My experience of snakes has been that they tend to occur when going downhill and it would be very difficult to accelerate fast enough to pull away from the van as it is freewheeling & trying to overtake the car - this is what has caused the snake. Slowing down will apply the caravan brakes & bring it back into line.

Elly towed ours back from Salisbury, well most of the way.  I am sure she will be along to tell you the full story.
