Hi,

I am going to fetch my new ranger next week and it wont have a battery fitted at that time, how ever i have to conect up for lights etc  for the trip home. My worry is i have the new type single connector on the car which charges the  battery and runs fridge when travelling, will this cause a problem with no battery being there? car electrics are multiplexed what ever that means.

Many thanks Rob

Multiplex means one wire is used for more than one thing (I think) lol ....

Multiplex = MUX in my telecoms days but in the car trade = Controller–area network (CAN or CAN-bus) which is a vehcle bus standard designed to allow microcontrollers and devices to communicate with each other within a vehicle without a host computer.

I think not having a battery should be ok (try it ) ... Just make sure the live battery terminal (on the van ) is well insulated so it can't short (touch) on the neutral terminal or bodywork ... I think the car only sends 12v power via the alternator to the caravans fridge and battery anyway ...

I have a Pageant and if I had no battery thats what I would do ...

Good luck and enjoy your new Ranger
