Just in the process of buying tow car for our little ABI Marauder. Very light caravan as alot of you will know. Have two choices here - Vauxhall Vectra Estate 2L TDI 16V Tourer (Diesel) versus Ford Focus Estate 1.8L Zetec (Petrol). Which one would you go for? I am in process of checking on what tow car web site but anyone have any comments about it?
------------- Smoke me a kipper ............ I'll be back for breakfast!!!!!
I have driven both and find the focus seats far too hard angainst the Vectra, and I think if I had to choose it would be the Vectra.
------------- Think this year is to follow old meet friends for 2014.
If you cant do someone a good turn, don`t do them a bad one,its nice to be nice you know, and little things mean much more later in life.
Pete.
I use a Vectra 2.0 DTi towing a 1100kg max weight van, tows very well and not bad on fuel. Think the Focus is a nice car but I think (think only) 1.8 petrol might be a bit un-economicle I may be wrong.
We have a Vectra estate and friends have the Focus. Depends how many people you have in the car but the Vectra has a lot more leg room in the back and also a Much larger boot. We tow a Swift Corvette (very light) with a 1.8 petrol Vectra and you wouldn't think there was anything on the back.
We have just upgraded from the Vectra 2.0 DTI Estate and pulled our Fleetwood Sonata 1450 kgs with it with no problems at all. An excellent towcar. Only upraded because we wanted a 7 seater to avoid world war three every time the 3 girls got together in the Vectra.
We've just got a vectra diesel estate, having trading in our doblo. What a great car this is.....can't wait for the chance to upgrade our caravan now!!
------------- My photos allow you to see what I saw at the time that I took it....No messing.
28mpg towing with the 1.8 who knows with with other you gotta weight up the actual cost of the fuel and mpg sometimes been diesel don`t work out any cheaper when you get 5 to 10 mpg more and its upto 10p a ltr more. so do the maths mpg is not mpL 50p more per gallon near enough
