basically, what can I tow? The manual doesn't give a max towing weight, only a GTW on a 8 or 12% gradient. Our very old lunar venus comes in at 850kg with a max laden weight of 1110kg. We currently tow with a seat alhambra 2l petrol, but I really dont like this car and would rather get a fiat 500, leaving my husband to tow, if possible.
A well known site suggests that that max towing weight for a 2002 1.4 Hdi (not tdi) is 1140kg. But make sure that the difference between the GTW and the GVW is not lower if you plan fully to load the car.
Bear in mind also that this will be more than 85% of the kerbweight which is around 1200kg.
Your Peugeot has a kerbweight of 1196kg and a max towing weight of 1140kg with an 85% figure of 1016kg so the simple answer is that yes you could tow the van with that car. Personally I would be very reluctant to do so the match is just too close on every section towing close to every concievable limit does not strike me as being very relaxing.

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013

I would have thought it would be higher than that, my Seat Ibiza 1.4 Tdi - a much smaller car - is 1206 Kgs kerbweight. It should be powerful enough as well with 110 Bhp.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
Although looking at your thread title theres no such thing as a Peugeot 307 1.4tdi 110. If you actually mean 307 1.6hdi 110 look at kerbweights & you will see your car has a kerbweight of 1335kg giving an 85% of 1135kg so well within the limits for your caravan.

I took the figures from http://www..talktalk.net/frameset.htm and took the figures for a 5 door 1.4hdi which was the best match from the OP information. If it is a different car then the figures could work out differently.

Members of UKCS have been finding Cuddles Abelgratis really unreliable of late, out of date information and conflicting information when compared to the car's actual plates etc so the only true way to find out is the plates on the vehicle/manufacturer and a weighbridge. Some optional extras will of course alter the vehicle's weight hence I said a weighbridge btw but the manufacturers recommended maximum tow weight won't change, just the kerbweight.

The only confusion in this case is with the engine size. The only reliable way to find the cars kerbweight is to look for it on the cars V5 but since it is only relatively recently that it became a requirement for it to be on there even this is not reliable.
