Anyone one out there got any experience of towing with the AUDI A6 2.0 Diesel?
I'm opting out of my company car scheme and thinking of getting an '07 plate AUDI with about 20k miles on. I tow a 1200kg Bailey so the AUDI is well within spec.
The independent garage that service my company '04 plate TDCi 130 Mondeo that has done 155k miles are telling me to avoid owning a new style Mondeo and buy a 2yr old AUDI rather than a 1yr old VW Passat because of niggling faults with the Passat. I'm inclined to agree but would welcome any feedback.
There are (I believe) two versions of the 2.0tdi - 140bhp or 170bhp. I have recently bought an A4 and tried out a 140bhp A6 as there was a good deal on offer - it felt very sluggish compared to that engine version in an A4 - it was a multitronic mind.
I'm now 2 years into my Passat ownership, 60,000 miles from new, '07 reg 2.0 TDI 140, and the only thing to go wrong is one of the parking sensors. Its the most reliable car I've had. Previously I had a Toyota Avensis for 3 years from new, and that had to have loads of stuff replaced, clutch, steering rack, etc. YMMV as they say in the states.
I drive a 2.0 L audi A6 avant 140bhp and it's great. The only thing is I have the s line spec which is great but after a year the hard suspension is a bit irritating. I would def get the 170bhp if you can purely for a bit more fun. As for towing I'm not sure because I was meant to change mine so had the tow bar put on my wife's vw touran, which has the same Audi 2.0l 140bhp engine and it tows my 1200kg swift brilliantly.
i had a 1.9tdi a6 avant for 6 months with our swift charisma 555, plenty enough power but only gripe was a little low on clearance at back so if going up a steep gradient some grazing of under chassis
