Cheers T&W - test drive tomorrow - if she feels right then it's ours. Expanding family - loads of boot space and a nice looker - look nicer than discos I think...
i.e using the vehicle to get over difficult terrain,or towing you van off very muddy or slippery area e.t.c. and when you have used this you have to reverse a short distance to dissengage.
God How Prehistoric is that.....Next you'll be getting out to twiddle with the front hubs Mmm poor old Datsuns !
A nurse who I work with has the 2.7 tdi and says towing is a piece of cake(or something like that!)Ive got a spanker 2.5 and tow a bailey ranger without any problem.Cant beat the jap cars.
------------- a bad day caravaning is better than a good day at work

Why power four wheels all the time when you dont need too?
Not too worried 'bout that - I doubt I will ever need it and if I do, well I have to move the van forward to engage the brakes.. why not move the car back!? HAHA
Test drive today - well impressed - smooth ride and quite quiet - tonnes of room - now in deal negotiations...
Well anyway The terrano is a capable tow truck. A Good mate of mine has had one for 18 months and has had no trouble ( Well it is japanese after all ) Just make sure the gearbox isn't making any grinding noises and the 4wd all works as it should and you wont go far wrong..
Gearbox felt very smooth - no clunks or clicks. The 4WD engaged no problems. Got a 3 month warranty on it anyways - so Ill give it a good belt around to expose any problems.
hi,we used to have the maverick, which is the same but the economy wasnt good ,we bought the x trail which tows our conway pastiche ,well and the economy is superb,as well as being car like and comfortable ,hope this helps
X trails are well nice lookers. If we had the money left we'd have one. However we have now sorted the Terrano II out and look forward to pulling Big Helga over hill and dale. This one appears to never have towed so once the alko is fitted we are away/ Unfortunately wont be ready for this weekend - our last sad tow with the vectra - we may see some of you at C&CC Haltwhistle - you'll know us - we will likely be the only ones with the door on the other way round!! ahaa...
Thanks for all the advice - a great bunch all round!!
Well we got it and are well impressed. It's a beast - not refined - it doesnt try to be a car and a pretend 4x4 - its a real 4x4 (no digs about 2WD option please :) )
it sounds like a coach engine - i dont know why but ive never drove so responsibly - maybe its the 27mpg!!! Well chuffed - first tow this weekend to Scarboro! Good weather forecast too - see you there.
