i have a shogun 2.5 swb td and pull a 5 birth ace tycoon. we are travelling from bridlington to cornwall in a couple of weeks (approx 9hr drive) and somebody mentioned to me it is possible to get some sort of different coolant specialy for towing eg a caravan. is this true and where do you get it from?
I guess that will be a coolant additive known as a 'water wetter' supposed to keep the temperature down, summat like this whether it works, I know not.
I tried similar stuff when i was building super fast computers with water cooling systems.
I never recorded any difference in temperatures with and without it.
Better option get an electric fan wired in with a switch, I did this when i was towing with a rover 800 diesel & the temps used to creep up on long climbs.
Just before the hill or if i saw traffic stop, i could switch the fan on before the temps started to climb.
I would not bother with it. Just put 50% antifreeze in it. This works as a coolant as well & highers the boiling point & as better heat transfer than water.
